This National Physical Therapy Month, we’re proud to spotlight one of our dedicated physical therapists Aparna Iyer, DPT, whose work embodies the heart of healing.

Inspired by the recovery journeys of her own family members — from minor injuries to neurological rehabilitation for stroke and Parkinson’s — Aparna saw firsthand how movement could restore independence and hope. That spark led her to a career as a physical therapist.

Her passion continues to grow with each patient she helps. Whether it’s guiding someone from pain to strength or witnessing a stroke survivor take their first independent steps, she finds deep meaning in every milestone. One unforgettable moment involved a patient suffering from chronic dizziness. After years of frustration and failed medications, a simple vestibular maneuver and targeted exercises brought immediate, lasting relief — proof of the power of physical therapy.

Her approach is rooted in trust, education, and celebrating small victories. She meets patients where they are — physically and emotionally — and helps them set goals that build confidence and ownership in their recovery. As she says, “Every step forward, no matter how small, is a step toward independence.”

Collaboration is key to her success. Working closely with physicians, nurses, case managers, and fellow therapists, Aparna ensures every patient receives coordinated, personalized care. Technology helps streamline communication, but it’s the shared commitment across departments that truly elevates outcomes.

Her message to the community: Physical therapy is more than recovery from an injury, it’s prevention, wellness, and lifelong health. "From musculoskeletal/orthopedic rehabilitation and neurological rehabilitation to oncology rehab and vestibular therapy, from labor and deliver to pelvic health and NICU, PT empowers people to move better, feel stronger, and live fuller lives.”

This month, we celebrate Aparna and all the physical therapists who help patients reclaim their strength, mobility, and confidence — one step at a time.
