He grew up in Oxford, North Carolina, and obtained his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia. During his undergraduate years, Dr. Watson spent most of his spare time paddling, fishing, and hiking around Roanoke, Botetourt, and Nelson counties. He attended The George Washington University
