Biography
Megan B. Shannon, MD joined Virginia Women’s Center in 2018 and practices at our Short Pump, Mechanicsville and Midlothian locations. As a Urogynecologist, Dr. Shannon has been specialty trained in medical and surgical options for women with pelvic floor disorders. She recognizes many women are hesitant to talk about pelvic pain, bladder, bowel or prolapse issues and as a result, they suffer in silence. Care Philosophy
My philosophy is to help women realize there is usually a simple fix for their urinary or bowel issues. Problems with vaginal prolapse, urinary incontinence and fecal incontinence are SO common, but don't have to be. My team can help. Sometimes it's as easy as teaching them healthy bladder and bowel habits. The great thing about my field is that it's very symptom-focused, meaning that treatments can be as conservative or non-invasive as a woman desires depending on how much her symptoms bother her.
