Henrico Doctors' Hospital named among U.S. News & World Report's best hospitals for maternity care

Henrico Doctors’ Hospital, part of HCA Virginia, has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as a 2026 High Performing hospital for Maternity Care  — the highest rating awarded in the publication’s annual Best Hospitals for Maternity Care study.

This designation reflects Henrico Doctors’ Hospital’s commitment to safe, evidence-based care for mothers and babies, as measured by key quality indicators such as C-section rates in lower-risk pregnancies, severe unexpected newborn complication rates, exclusive breast milk feeding rates, and birthing-friendly practices. The evaluation covered the full 2024 calendar year.

Last year, Henrico Doctors' Hospital delivered over 4,000 babies, accounting for one of every four births in Central Virginia.

Since 2021, U.S. News has evaluated hospitals that provide labor and delivery services for uncomplicated pregnancies and submit detailed data for analysis. For the 2026 edition, approximately 900 hospitals nationwide participated. Best Hospitals for Maternity Care ratings help expectant parents make informed decisions about where to receive maternity care that best meets their family’s needs.
