Referring physicians, school counselors and social workers can refer patients to Dominion Hospital s First Step counselors for a smooth admissions process.

The staff, physicians and clinicians at Dominion Hospital are committed to working collaboratively with referring clinicians, school personnel, community service agency board members and other professionals to provide the highest level of mental health care to our patients. We appreciate your partnership!

Take the first step anytime 24-7

Call (703) 538-2872 for a free, confidential and immediate assessment 24/7 from our First Step counselors. When you call, please provide the following information about your patient:

  • Name and age
  • Any criminal charges within the past 5 years
  • Example of suicidal, homicidal or psychotic thoughts
  • Brief description of the presenting problem
  • Current/previous mental health treatment
  • Any medical problems
  • Current medications
  • Name of insurance provider

We’ll also assist you with any pre-certification requirements.

Our admissions counselors begin the process with a confidential telephone interview. Working closely with Dominion Hospital physicians, they facilitate smooth and timely hospital admission for your patients. From the day your patients walk through our doors, we work with them to fulfill their goals, meet their needs and prepare them for the day they walk out—with their mental health stabilized and their zest for life renewed.

Inpatient care

Highlights of our inpatient hospitalization service for adults, adolescents and children include:

  • Nursing care 24/7
  • Daily group therapy
  • Daily one-on-one meetings with a psychiatrist
  • Medication evaluation, adjustment and monitoring throughout the stay
  • Family meetings twice a week to explore causes of the current crisis and formulate a plan for stability

Partial program

Highlights of our Partial Programs for adults, adolescents and children include:

  • Minimum of seven hours of nursing care each day Mon - Fri
  • Daily group therapy Mon - Fri
  • One-on-one meetings with a psychiatrist Mon - Fri
  • Medication evaluation, adjustment and monitoring throughout the stay
  • Family meetings once a week to assess the current situation and adapt a plan for stability

Participants in our Partial Program return to their families at night to apply skills learned during the day in their home environment.
