Symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
When GERD occurs, stomach acid is flowing back up into your esophagus, causing chronic aggravation and that feeling of "heartburn." You may have GERD if you are experiencing:
- Achalasia
- Acid reflux
- Asthma
- Chest pain
- Chronic heartburn
- Chronic non-productive dry cough
- Dysphagia
- Indigestion
- Regurgitation
- Stomach hernias
- Wheezing
Our GI doctors work to achieve the expedited resolution of your symptoms. We are committed to understanding the full extent of your condition so we can create an effective treatment plan.
Diagnostic testing
All testing is done in-house at our hospital. Although more comprehensive testing may be performed later in your treatment, our initial diagnostic testing includes:
- Barium swallow exam
- Capsule pH study
- Endoscopy exams
- Esophageal manometry tests
Treatments for GERD
There are many nonsurgical treatments for GERD, including lifestyle modifications and medication management. If these have not proven effective for you, an outpatient procedure may be your best alternative. In these cases, we offer a variety of minimally invasive outpatient procedures, including:
- Magnetic implant for reflux management
- Nissen fundoplication
