Our team of doctors, nurses and staff goes above and beyond to give you highly individualized care throughout your time in our hospital.

Our comprehensive childbirth services

Our labor and delivery team works hard to bring you a wide range of supportive services to keep you comfortable and healthy throughout your pregnancy, including:

  • Skilled team of experts dedicated to providing individualized care from the moment you arrive through our private entrance to when you leave to go home
  • Comprehensive birthing suites for labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum care
  • Private rooms with personal bathrooms, including sleeping arrangements for your labor partner and hydrotherapy options
  • An advanced security system to ensure the safety of you and your baby throughout your time with us, including footprint recognition technology for your new child
  • Low-intervention birthing options
  • Peanut balls and birthing balls to help with labor
  • Postpartum care and education, including breastfeeding support
  • A special dining area in your room where your family can visit and enjoy a meal with you

A personalized labor and delivery experience

Our maternity department provides unified labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum rooms (LDRPs), so you can stay in the same inviting, spacious room and have a consistent environment during your entire visit. These rooms are family-friendly and include private, in-room bathrooms with hydrotherapy options. Complimentary meals are served to laboring moms and one guest between 6:30am and 6:30pm.

We also offer you access to the latest obstetric technology and resources, including a maternity team with specialized obstetrician-gynecologists (OB/GYNs), registered nurses, obstetrician technicians, anesthesiologists. Additionally, we have dedicated operating rooms nearby for unplanned or emergency cesarean sections.


Additional childbirth and maternity services we provide

We firmly believe that you and your baby are the two most important people throughout your pregnancy, and that you should be in command of your care. We offer comprehensive prenatal care to help you learn to trust your instincts and feel confident in becoming a parent.

Because your confidence in your care is always our priority, we also offer prenatal classes and maternity unit tours with updated information and advice about pregnancy, childbirth and parenthood. You can also set up a private tour through your participating provider.

High-risk pregnancy services and care

Our team is here to provide you with high-risk pregnancy care for several maternal-fetal conditions, like gestational diabetes and hyperemesis gravidarum. Our goal is to bring you peace of mind about your health and the health of your child.

Neonatal intensive care unit (NICU)

When needed, our Level II NICU, also called a special care nursery, provides 24/7 care for your newborn child. Level II NICUs are there for infants who are born early or have other mild health problems, such as having a low birth weight. Our special care nursery is here to make sure that your baby has the best possible care and is comfortable, safe and healthy.Your NICU team will include a neonatologist, nurses, a case manager and lactation consultants to ensure the best possible care for your little one. We understand the importance of your closeness with your child, and make sure you are an active part in their care until you are ready to take them home.


Postpartum care

After your baby is born, you will receive comprehensive postpartum care and support while you recover and enjoy time with your newborn. We encourage rooming-in (keeping your little one in your room) so you can get to know them, but we also have nursery care just steps away when you need some rest.

Our maternity experts offer free support groups that meet regularly in the maternity center classroom. Registration is not required, but if you have questions about an upcoming meeting, please call (540) 953-5409.

Breastfeeding services

Our labor and delivery department was the first in the Commonwealth of Virginia to be recognized as a Baby-Friendly hospital for meeting the highest standards of infant care in breastfeeding. An International Board Certified Lactation Consultant is available seven days a week to help you and your baby have a successful nursing experience.

Arriving at our maternity hospital

Our childbirth department is located on the first floor of our hospital.

Parking

There is free valet parking located right outside the center for your convenience.


Entrance and check in

Expectant mothers and visitors can go directly to our private entrance without checking in at the main hospital reception desk.

Please note that all doors except for the main entrance to the unit are locked at all times for safety and security.
