Labor and delivery at LewisGale Hospital Montgomery

LewisGale Hospital Montgomery has made the difficult decision to temporarily discontinue labor and delivery services, effective April 1, 2024. Recruiting full-time OB/GYNs has been challenging in recent years, and at this time, it is in the best interest of our patients to deliver their babies at our sister facility, LewisGale Medical Center. While we will no longer deliver babies at LewisGale Hospital Montgomery, patients can receive gynecological care, as well as pre-and-postnatal care, through LewisGale Physicians Women’s Health Specialists, located in Blacksburg, Virginia. Patients will receive specific information regarding their care. A patient information voicemail hotline is available at (540) 953-5380.

Our women's health and imaging services

We are proud to be able to address both your physical and emotional health. Some of the services we offer include:

Breast health

Regularly scheduled examinations are key to prevention and early detection when it comes to breast health. We offer breast screenings and diagnostic imaging, including ultrasounds and mammograms, as well as biopsies if needed.

Bone density screening

If you have concerns about your bone health or risk for fractures, we offer noninvasive bone density screening as part of our diagnostic imaging services. These screenings include dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) scans, which involve very low doses of radiation to assess bone density and risk of osteoporosis and bone fractures.

Cancer care program

We offer diagnostic screenings for both breast and gynecologic cancers. If evidence of cancer is found, we are ready to provide effective treatment via both chemotherapy and surgical intervention. Our team of oncologists, surgeons and nurses will be with you every step of the way to answer questions and provide the help you need.

Gynecology

Our multidisciplinary gynecology team includes physicians, nurse midwives, surgeons, gynecologic oncologists, anesthesiologists and urogynecologists. Within our gynecology program, you can schedule your annual well-woman visit and also receive diagnoses and treatment for more complex conditions such as gynecologic cancers, pelvic floor issues and incontinence.

In addition, our hospital provides laparoscopic and other minimally invasive surgical procedures for conditions such as gynecologic cancers, pelvic prolapse, uterine fibroids and bladder support. These delicate surgical methods offer many benefits compared to traditional surgery, including faster recovery times, less pain and minimal scarring.

Heart disease in women

Women often have unique symptoms during a cardiac event, such as jaw pain, pain in the lower abdomen, extreme fatigue and dizziness. As an Accredited Chest Pain Center, designated by the American College of Cardiology (ACC), we are able to deliver fast and effective care.

Our emergency services are prepared to quickly diagnose and treat your cardiac event. We are able to perform percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), such as angioplasty and stents, to quickly open blocked arteries and minimize damage.

After cardiac events occur, our cardiac rehabilitation program, part of our cardiology program, guides you through recovery and helps you maintain good heart health.

Infertility

We understand how difficult it can be to struggle to conceive. Our physicians aim to provide compassionate, personalized fertility treatment that considers the unique needs of you and your family. We want you to be an active part of your care, and are ready and willing to answer your questions and provide both the medical and emotional support you need.

Emotional wellness

We believe your mental and emotional health is just as important as your physical health. As part of HCA Virginia Health System, we give you direct access to comprehensive inpatient and outpatient behavioral health support for patients of all ages. We help patients with a wide range of concerns, including depression, anxiety, addiction issues, memory impairment and trauma.
