Henrico Doctors' Hospital, part of HCA Virginia, recently celebrated the opening of Scott's Walk ER, a new freestanding emergency room located at 1801 Ellen Road in Richmond's Scott's Addition.
The 16,600-square-foot facility will provide emergency care 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, staffed by board-certified emergency medicine physicians and experienced emergency nurses. Scott's Walk ER offers the same level of emergency services available in a hospital-based emergency department while providing patients with a convenient new access point for emergency care.
"Scott's Walk ER brings high-quality emergency care closer to where people live, work and spend their time," said Ryan Jensen, CEO of Henrico Doctors' Hospital. "As Richmond continues to grow, we're investing in convenient access points that help ensure patients can receive expert emergency care when and where they need it."
Scott's Walk ER is HCA Virginia's 10th freestanding emergency room and is part of the health system's continued investment in expanding access to care across the Commonwealth.
Chesterfield ER, a new freestanding emergency room located at 9630 Iron Bridge Road in Chesterfield County and a campus of CJW Medical Center, opened its doors in June. And Leesburg ER is set to open in the fall in Northern Virginia.
The new emergency rooms support HCA Virginia's strategy of creating more convenient front doors into its integrated system of care. Patients who require emergency treatment can receive hospital-level emergency services in a community setting while remaining connected to HCA Virginia's extensive network for follow-up care, specialty services, imaging, surgery and inpatient care when needed.
"Healthcare should be accessible, convenient and connected," said Shaila Menees, chief development officer for HCA Healthcare Capital Division. "Scott's Walk ER strengthens our ability to provide the right level of care at the right time while connecting patients to the full breadth of services available across HCA Virginia."
One out of every 15 emergency room patients in the United States receives care at an HCA Healthcare facility. Last year, HCA Healthcare provided emergency care during more than 10 million emergency room visits, including more than 613,000 throughout Virginia. That national experience brings proven clinical expertise and best practices to communities across the Commonwealth.
Designed to complement Henrico Doctors' Hospital's emergency services, Scott's Walk ER provides another option for patients experiencing serious illnesses and injuries while helping preserve capacity at hospital-based emergency departments for the most complex cases.
