Focused ultrasound

Focused ultrasound, or MR-guided focused ultrasound, is an incisionless procedure that provides relief for tremors caused by movement disorders, such as Parkinson's disease or essential tremor. The treatment targets the thalamus with ultrasound waves to disrupt the abnormal activity causing the tremor.

Neurological Surgery
Dr. K. Singh Sahni is the chairperson of neuroscience and medical director of the Focus Ultrasound and the Gamma Knife Center at Johnston-Willis Hospital. Dr. Sahni has performed more than 5,000 neurosurgical procedures and has led the team of experts at Johnston-Willis Hospital to create a state-of-the-art neurosurgical program.

Dr. Matthew Boyce

Neurology
Dr. Matthew Boyce is the medical director of the Deep Brain Stimulation Program at Johnston-Willis Hospital. Dr. Boyce is board-certified by the American Board of Neurology. Dr. Boyce is one of the few neurologists with special training in movement disorders and actively participates by monitoring and testing patients during Deep Brain Stimulation and Focus Ultrasound procedures.

BriAnne Clarke

Nurse Practitioner
Bri is an experienced Nurse Practitioner and has been in practice with Dr. Sahni since 2016. After the initial comprehensive consultation, she stays fully involved with patient follow up after their treatment. She assists with Focused Ultrasound, Gamma Knife and DBS management of patients with severe tremors.

Jordan Townsend

Navigator
Jordan Townsend is the neuroscience nurse navigator at Johnston-Willis Hospital. She is a board- certified registered nurse. Jordan guides patients and family members throughout the care process helping with education, diagnosis, treatment options, and any additional resources required.
