Neurological care
Neurological care is the practice of medicine that focuses on the diagnosis, treatment and function of diseases relating to the nerves and nervous system. Neurologists and neurosurgeons treat disorders that affect the brain or spinal cord.
Neurological treatments we offer
We offer compassionate care for patients in central Virginia with epilepsy and seizure disorders.
Epilepsy care
Epilepsy is a neurological disorder characterized by abnormal brain activity, resulting in seizures or the onset of unusual sensations, behaviors and emotions. We offer an epilepsy monitoring unit (EMU) where our neurology teams carefully monitor patients experiencing or recovering from seizures.
Epilepsy monitoring
Technology such as video and electroencephalogram (EEG) monitoring are used to record brain activity and observe behavioral changes to determine the best treatment plan for you. Epilepsy monitoring is often useful if your epilepsy is severe, not responding to treatment or has unknown causes.
Other epilepsy treatments
In addition to our designated epilepsy monitoring unit (EMU), the neurologists at our hospital offer comprehensive epilepsy treatments.
Services we provide include:
- Neuroradiology
- Neurodiagnostics
- Neuropsychology
