Diagnostic screening and imaging

Our skilled team of cardiologists in Roanoke are committed to diagnosing and treating your condition, offering a wide range of diagnostic and electrophysiology options. Many of our imaging procedures are noninvasive, so they do not involve any incisions.

Our imaging services include:

  • Echocardiogram (ECHO) — This ultrasound imaging procedure is used to identify cardiovascular disease through a visual assessment of current heartbeats and pumping function.
  • Electrocardiogram (EKG) — This procedure measures the heart's electrical activity in order to identify abnormal rhythms, causes of chest pain or the effectiveness of a pacemaker.
  • Holter monitoring — During this test, a device is attached to your chest that creates a detailed record of your heartbeats, which helps to identify any irregularities.
  • Multidetector cardiac computerized tomography scan (MDCT) — This procedure uses X-rays to view the heart at any angle for a more detailed analysis. It is used when an ECHO or EKG proves insufficient.

Heart surgery

Our cardiovascular surgeons are committed to providing you with exceptional surgical services, from interventional procedures to complex heart surgeries. Should your condition require surgery, our team will be with you and your family every step of the way to ensure you feel secure and well-informed.

Rehabilitation services

After surgery, our heart doctors and physical therapists will help you recover at our inpatient cardiac surgical intensive care unit. Our customized cardiac rehabilitation programs give you access to exercise equipment and guidance by expert physiologists and specialists. We will help you create individualized exercise and nutrition plans, learn to recognize symptoms of heart disease and reduce risk factors. That way, you can begin living a healthier lifestyle after your surgery.

During cardiac rehab, our team of nurses and specialists will monitor your heart while you perform exercises on equipment, such as recumbent and stationary bikes, rowing machines, treadmills, wall pulleys and free weights.

Every patient at our cardiac rehab unit is referred, evaluated and cleared by a specialist. This specialist will communicate with your primary care physician or cardiologist, who will sign off on a release from the program.
